there you have it
Can you please elaborate on that? The very eloquent way you wrote it here is a tad too mysterieus for us, at least for me. From my experience it is very useful in PvP, especially in the random arenas and to some extent in tombs when facing IWAY teams.

Again, it would be helpful if you can give the arguments/tell us your experience.

This hex certainly doesnt suck in PvP, the only time it sucks is when you go against a team without a warrior. then it does suck a bit.

get arcane echo... cast 4 of them in under 20 sec, even if u have it as secondary thats 116damage every attack, just make sure to cast it on 4 sep targets, not AS effective in pvp, but in pve deffinatly one of the best

so does empathy damage.. it's better than empathy for other reasons
spiteful is also an elite so one would hope it's better than empathy

of course as others have pointed out nothing stops you from using both
(or spiteful + backfire on casters, etc) - well outside of not being part mesmer

Default This is a MASSIVE skill

This skill is just one of the top 5 elites for me, it has purely no drawbacks and all advantage you can seek out of a skill :

1°) Okay energy cost : 15 energy is quite big, but manageable.
2°) Very short cooldown : what i like in these kind of spells is that the cooldown is less than its duration. Meaning you can effectively keep it up all the time on a target
3°) Triggered by *EVERYTHING*, an attack, a spell, a signet, a stance, even a shout WTF !
4°) Shadow damage... no need to explain it
5°) AoE ! And best of all it does not trigger AoE Panic

Just a tip : Couple it with massive health degen (-8 health degen) and it is a WINNER COMBO. Quite everybody will try to react when they see their health going down, thus take far more damage.

I've used it for a farming build (found it out myself not been copying the builds around) and if you understand you can put this on 2 different ennemy you can have a permanent 29 Damage per sec on all monsters around you (and this is AT LEAST the amount you would make). With a 55 monk => GG

Remember you can't echo this skill because both are elites. You can however use arcane echo.

Im playing mostly monks in the arenas. This is one skill i don't like to have one me. It really nasty.

Some people here must be inexperienced and think you can spam convert hexes like you have 1000 energy. Do you realize that as a monk you will be the prime target all the time. You definitely can't be spamming convert hexes like a freak. It costs 15 energy and is muuuch to costly to keep using many times.

PvP - ranger with pet - cast it on the pet your the only one who'll know what it's been cast on since it wont show up on the rangers display. while the war around the pet in melee are taking the dmg

Here's mine:

Awaken the Blood
Archane Echo
SS {E}
Suffering
Desecrate Enchantments
Shadow of Fear (if a bonder or tank screws up...in a pinch, really)
Channeling (5+ foes make it very effective)
Res

Of course, that ^^, is PvE. SS nukers can do around 2.5x as much DPS as an ele nuker.

what u need to remember all u ignorant PvPers is that some skills are better for PvE...think about this on a giant mob of stupid trolls, who (not smart enough to not attack) continue to attack and deal countless amounts of damage to not only them, but every1 around em. So maybe this skill is not so good for PvP...SO WHAT this game is not based around PvP for some, and like me i focus more on PvE, and IMO this is the best skill for a necro to get if they want to deal some serious damage to a mob.
